La IGT.
Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT es un título IGT, Indicazione Geografica Tipica, de la región de Trentino-Alto Adige en el extremo norte de la Italia alpina. Su área geográfica también se extiende al Véneto, concretamente a la provincia de Belluno, pero la gran mayoría de los vinos Vigneti delle Dolomiti son de Trentino-Alto Adige. La forma en alemán del título es Weinberg Dolomiten. Un vino Vigneti delle Dolomiti se puede hacer en cualquiera de varios estilos: rojo, blanco o rosado, mezclado o varietal y aún, espumoso o dulce. La variedad de variedades de uva utilizadas en estos vinos es bastante amplia, pero se centra principalmente en aquellas ya establecidas en el Trentino Alto Adige, en particular Pinot Grigio y Chardonnay para blancos y la variedad local Teroldego para tintos, junto con el omnipresente Merlot y Cabernet Sauvignon. El título IGT Vigneti delle Dolomiti se introdujo en 1996, justo después de que la categoría IGT se introdujera por primera vez en Italia.

Enlaces que se encuentran en las prácticas agronómicas y enológicas tradicionales, pero también en áreas culturales más amplias como en tradiciones, cultura popular, arte, gastronomía, etc.. La evidencia más antigua del cultivo de vides en el área afectada por el IGT "Vigneti delle Dolomiti" se remonta a la antigua Edad del Bronce y en la edad del hierro al final, y están representadas por las semillas de uva encontradas en el asentamiento de Ledro y en los alrededores de Bolzano y Merano atribuibles a la cultura Fritzens-Sanzeno. Otra serie de hallazgos, nos lleva a la situla rhaeto-etrusca, siglo IV a.C., que se encuentra en Cembra, en la que está grabada una de las mayores inscripciones de la era etrusca, alabando el consumo simposial de vino. En cambio, las primeras reglas de cosecha se remontan al período medieva: En el siglo XII se emitieron los "Estatutos de Trento", normas proteccionistas de la producción local destinadas a obstaculizar la introducción de vinos producidos en las zonas vecinas. En las "Crónicas del Sagrado Concilio de Trento", escrito por el historiador Michelangelo Mariani en 1670, también hay una descripción precisa de la producción de vino y su importancia en la economía local. Un punto decisivo decisivo en viticultura y enología regional quedó impresionado en 1874 con el establecimiento del Instituto Agrícola de S. Michele all'Adige.
