En 1630 se hizo conocida en España porque fue recetada a la condesa de Chinchón para curarle de «unas fiebres», como se llamaba entonces a la malaria. En 1820, los soldados indios endulzaron la bebida amarga e inventaron la indian tonic water, poco después un chorrito de ginebra eternizó el gin tonic. La planta se hizo conocida como el árbol de la fiebre. Por eso se llama así, «Fever Tree», la marca de bebidas que ahora recupera la elaboración artesanal de la tónica con quinina natural, azúcar de caña y ácido cítrico. Con la mezcla exclusiva de sabores botánicos sutiles y naturales, agua y quinina de la mejor calidad, han creado una tónica deliciosa, natural y con un gusto y aroma extraordinariamente refrescantes. Compuesta a base de quinina natural, azúcar de caña, agua, ácido cítrico, sabores naturales.
