El señor Narciso Mascaró Marcé nació en 1894 en el seno de una familia dedicada al comercio de vinos. Era el del medio de los cinco hijos que tuvieron Antoni Mascaró Castellet y Josefa Marcé Miret. Al morir su padre en 1919, mientras el señor Narciso estudiaba en Suiza junto a su hermano mayor, José, comerciante de vinos en Laussane, decidió regresar a Vilafranca del Penedès. La empresa familiar pasó a llamarse Vda. e hijos de A. MASCARÓ, tal como puede verse en la relación de exportadores de vinos que aparece en el primer número de la revista PENEDÈS publicado el 6 de enero de 1919. En 1929, Ese mismo año, el señor Narciso contrajo matrimonio con la señorita María Carbonell Juliachs. La pareja tuvo tres hijos: Montserrat, Ma Rosa y finalmente en 1928 nació su hijo Antoni. Un vez casado, en la década de los años veinte, Narciso se independizó del negocio familiar aunque continuó la actividad de comerciante de vinos y alcoholes y llegó a tener destilería de alcohol vínico en Vilafranca y despacho en Vilafranca y Barcelona. Hacia 1940, la familia se trasladó a la casa de estilo Modernista adquirida en la calle Casal. En el mismo edificio se instaló la destilería. Fue en esa época que también se compró la finca Mas Miquel. En 1946 el señor Narciso comenzó a comercializar productos con la marca MASCARÓ. Los primeros productos que salieron al mercado fueron un cava un brandy y un licor de naranja. En aquellos años Antoni Mascaró inició los estudios de química en la Escuela Industrial de la calle Urgell de Barcelona. Esta formación le permitió estudiar con más profundidad el proceso de destilación. Fue, pues, el oficio en el que se especializó y en el que se convirtió en un maestro. En 1960 nació Montserrat Mascaró, fruto del matrimonio de Antonio con África Alemany. También se pusieron en marcha las nuevas instalaciones a las afueras de Vilafranca en unos viñedos propiedad de la familia. Poco a poco la actividad de elaboración de aguardientes y licores se trasladó a estas instalaciones donde hoy se ubica la bodega de elaboración de vinos, la destilería y las naves de envejecimiento de brandy. En 1988 se incorpora a la empresa Montserrat, hija de Antoni Mascaró. Sus estudios de Ingeniería Agrónoma y el trabajo del día a día junto a su padre hacen que se adentre en el conocimiento de la elaboración de los productos y en general de la empresa. En 1994 el señor Antonio y su hija Montserrat inician un proceso de cambio de imagen de toda la gama de productos y desarrollan el emblema Mascaró. En 1997 el señor Antonio sufre problemas serios de salud, lo que supone que la hija se sitúe al frente de la dirección de la empresa. Hoy en día y después de la muerte del señor Antoni en 2007, la empresa sigue siendo totalmente familiar.
Los viñedos.
En sus fincas de "Mas Miquel", antiguamente propiedad de los monjes del vecino monasterio cisterciense de Santes Creus y "El Castell" en el termino municipal de La Múnia, MASCARÓ cuida con esmero las variedades clásicas del Penedès (Macabeo, Xarel.lo y Parellada) junto a otras más innovadoras (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc y Chardonnay). Las uvas procedentes de estos viñedos se vinifican con todo rigor y profesionalidad en las bodegas y destilerías de MASCARÓ en Vilafranca del Penedès.
La empresa.
Desde hace tres generaciones la familia MASCARÓ nos dedicamos a la elaboración de destilados, cavas y vinos de alta calidad, con una clara vocación de unir tradición y modernidad.
Recogiendo el legado de nuestros antecesores y aportando creativitat y renovación, en MASCARÓ creemos que la esencia de un producto se encuentra en su origen. Por eso, todos los vinos y cavas que elaboramos proceden de uvas de nuestra finca Mas Miquel, inscrita en la DO Penedès i a la DO Cava, hecho que nos permite controlar todo el proceso de elaboración y garantizar la alta calidad del resultado final. Nuestra vocación para los productos de alta calidad nos ha llevado a convertirnos en maestros de la destilación, elaborando con productos naturales y con mucha cura, excepcionales destilados y espirituosos (brandy, gin, licor de naranja, etc.) con una personalidad propia. Las cavas y la destilería de MASCARÓ, ubicadas en Vilafranca del Penedès, a 48 km de Barcelona, son el escenario perfecto para la elaboración de nuestros destilados, cavas y vinos des del 1.946. Desde el corazón del Penedès exportamos nuestros productos a más de una decena de paises (EEUU, Noruega, Lituania, China, Suiza, Alemania, Bélgica, entre otros) y trabajamos con pasión para ofrecer al consumidor y al público especializado (sumiliers, barmans, profesionales de la coctelería, etc.) productos únicos y sorprendentes. El estilo personal de cada uno de nuestros productos se basa en el respeto por el carácter propio, el uso de productos naturales y la atención al detalle al largo de todo el proceso de elaboración.
De las bodegas más prestigiosas del cava.
Detrás de cada botella de MASCARÓ está una bodega con historia, la expresión de un territorio y el proyecto de una familia. Están el esfuerzo y los cuidados dedicados a nuestra finca MAS MIQUEL situada a más de 400 metros de altitud en Santes Creus (Tarragona). Allí se recogen racimo a racimo las variedades características del Penedès; Macabeo, Xarel.lo y Parellada que contribuyen a dar personalidad de nuestros CAVAS. Está también la magia y la alquimia del proceso de destilación de nuestros ESPIRITUOSOS y la oscuridad y el silencio de nuestras bodegas de estilo modernista situadas en VILAFRANCA DEL PENEDÈS (Barcelona) donde envejecen nuestros VINOS. Detrás de cada copa se esconde el legado de NARCISO MASCARÓ, un comerciante de vinos que en 1946 decidió lanzarse a la elaboración destilados y cavas dando origen a nuestra marca. Está también ANTONIO, su hijo, que con su visión innovadora amplió nuestros horizontes. Y está MONTSERRAT, la tercera generación, que ha recogido el testigo de su padre y que hoy se esfuerza en buscar la perfección en cada uno de nuestros elaborados. Detrás de cada brindis están lo antiguo y lo moderno; la originalidad y la innovación pero sobre todo el respeto por la tradición y la materia prima que tanto nos caracterizan y que nos han valido numerosos reconocimientos a nivel internacional.
