Bodegas Vinícola Real S.L. fue fundada en el año 1989, por Miguel Ángel Rodríguez en Albelda de Iregua, población con notable historia, cuyas raíces se hunden más allá de la era medieval, y de ahí, la bodega debe su nombre, del histórico pueblo de Albelda de Iregua. Con su primer vino de autor, 200 Monges, dio tributo a los monjes del Monasterio de San Martín de Albelda, quienes fueron responsables de la escritura del Código Vigilio. Vinícola Real fue construida cerca de la capilla de Santa Catalina, única parte que se conserva del Monasterio de San Martín de Albelda fundado en el año 924 d.C., el Monasterio quedó destruido a causa del desprendimiento de la peña Salagona en el año 1683. Vinícola Real nació con vocación de ser una Bodega de pequeña producción especializada en vinos de alta calidad y «vinos de pago». El equipo de Miguel Ángel utiliza sus propios viñedos, algunos de los cuales son muy antiguos y únicos, así como viñedos de otros productores que son controlados como si fueran propios. Todos ellos están situados dentro de tres subzonas privilegiadas de la Rioja Alta. Esta diversa gama de viñedos, con sus distintas características, morfología y microclimas, les permite realizar una exhaustiva selección de las mejores uvas de cada cosecha para crear vinos de Rioja realmente exclusivos.
Filosofía.

La cultura vitivinícola en Rioja, de profundas raíces históricas, durante la Edad Media se extiende en torno a los monasterios. De esos ancestrales precedentes surge Bodegas Vinícola Real y su marca emblemática 200 Monges, homenaje a la historia de la localidad en que está ubicada: Albelda de Iregua. Vinícola Real nace con vocación de ser una bodega de pequeña producción, especializada en Vinos de Alta Calidad obtenidos de sus propios viñedos, apostando por un Modelo de Viticultura Tradicional cuyo objetivo es la obtención de vinos originales. Durante la vendimia cada racimo es recolectado con sumo cuidado para evitar que los granos se rompan. El control final se realiza en la mesa de Selección Manual racimo a racimo. En su conjunto, todo el equipamiento técnico de la nave de elaboración de la bodega está adaptado a una Pequeña Producción de alta calidad.
La vendimia.

Llega entonces el momento de la vendimia. Mimando cada racimo para evitar que se rompan prematuramente, las uvas se transportan hasta la bodega en pequeñas cajas de 15Kg. El Enólogo analiza los principales parámetros de calidad de la uva como el grado, color, acidez e índice de polifenoles con el fin de valorar cada partida y determinar el proceso de elaboración que mejor se adecue a sus características. La selección manual permite realizar un último control, racimo a racimo, para separar lo que no se encuentre en perfecto estado y eliminar la parte más gruesa del raspón sin romper los granos de uva. Una delicada y costosa operación, que evidencia la exclusiva dedicación de Vinícola Real a la creación de grandes vinos.
La elaboración.
En su recepción, todas las uvas destinadas a los vinos de Reserva y Gran Reserva, de la marca más destacada «200 Monges», son estrictamente elegidas en una mesa de selección, obteniendo en perfectas condiciones sanitarias todas las uvas destinadas para la obtención de nuestros vinos de excelentes calidades.

La variedad viura, también muy conocida como macabeo, es una variedad de uva blanca utilizada en la elaboración de vino. Existe controversia al origen de la uva viura, en parte debido a la tardía detección de la sinonimia entre viura y macabeo. Hay autores que sitúan su origen en Asia Menor, aunque la primera cita de viura la ubica en los Pirineos orientales franceses, en contraposición a otras opiniones que colocan su origen en la región de Aragón. Por tanto, desde el punto de vista vitivinícola, se desconoce a ciencia cierta su origen, pero se puede asegurar, sin temor a equivocarse, que los primeros vinos de uva viura se elaboraron en un área situado entre el sureste de Francia y el noreste de España.
Características.
Las viña viura es una variedad rústica que se adapta con facilidad a distintos tipos de suelos, aunque se desaconseja para lugares frescos y húmedos o demasiado secos, ya que tiene facilidad para el desecamiento y a la senescencia y caída precoz de las hojas. Es una uva formada en racimos grandes, compactos y con pedúnculo corto, con forma cónica larga, rodeados de hojas grandes formadas por cinco lóbulos con un seno peciolar poco abierto o incluso cerrado. Las uvas son de color amarillo dorado, de un tamaño mediano, esféricas y uniformes y que, en su estrujado, producen un hollejo grueso. Es una variedad con cepas bastante vigorosas, de porte erguido y de alto rendimiento productivo, tanto por hectáreas como en mosto. Su fertilidad es alta, así como sus rendimientos. Esta variedad es muy sensible a las polillas y a la botrytis cinerea o podredumbre gris. Su sensibilidad al oídio y la necrosis bacteriana es media alta, así como a los ácaros. Por el contrario, no es demasiado sensible al mildiu y al corrimiento de racimo. Es una uva de brotación relativamente tardía, así como su maduración mientras su desborre es temprano, lo que la hace sensible a las heladas.
Zonas de cultivo.
Las regiones que producen vino blanco a partir de esta uva son principalmente La Rioja y Penedés, siendo muy usada para la elaboración de cava en Cataluña, aunque también se elaboran vinos blancos con uva viura en Aragón, Castilla la Mancha, Valencia y Extremadura. En Francia es habitual en la región de Languedoc-Rosellón. Es la variedad más utilizada para los vinos de Rioja, los espumosos de Rueda y muy principal en la elaboración del cava.
Vinos.
La variedad viura es muy polivalente, apta para la fermentación en barrica y, según las condiciones de cultivo, permite obtener distintos tipos de vinos blancos secos, espumosos o incluso vinos dulces naturales. Son vinos ligeros y agradables, equilibrados en acidez y azúcar y de color pálido. En nariz da lugar a vinos con aromas florales y frutales, como la manzana, de intensidad media alta. En boca produce vinos ligeramente astringentes que, cuando han sido vendimiados tardíamente y son envejecidos en madera, recuerdan a la miel y frutos secos. También son utilizados en el coupage de los tintos jóvenes o de crianza, imprimiendo acidez al conjunto, sobre todo cuando se ha hecho una vendimia precoz en la zona centro, o cuando el cultivo es en climas frescos. El grado alcohólico de estos vinos ronda 13,6º con acidez media de 5,3.
