Las Bodegas Antiguas de los Marqueses de Barolo se encuentran en Barolo, en el edificio con vistas al Castillo de los Marqueses Falletti. Aquí, hace más de 200 años, comenzó una hermosa historia.
La historia de una bodega, protegida por colinas en el corazón de Langhe, donde nació un vino que luego se llamó Barolo en honor al lugar de nacimiento.
- 1807.
Nadie podría haber imaginado que este vino algún día se convertiría en rey: el Rey de los vinos, el vino de los Reyes. La historia comienza, más precisamente, en 1807 cuando el marqués de Barolo, Carlo Tancredi Falletti , se casa con una noble francesa en París, Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier , bisnieto del famoso ministro de finanzas del Rey Sol. Fue Juliette quien percibió el gran potencial del vino producido en Barolo que, solo después de la fermentación completa y el envejecimiento prolongado en la madera, podía revelar todas las cualidades típicas de la variedad del suelo y la uva. El Nebbiolo, poderoso y austero, capaz de perdurar en el tiempo y expresar todas las características de este extraordinario terroir .
- 1864.
En 1864, con la muerte de Juliette, la prestigiosa dinastía de los Falletti se extinguió: para perpetuar su memoria y actividad beneficiosa, la Ópera Pia Barolo fue creada por voluntad de la Marquesa . Esta historia estaba destinada a cruzarse con la de otra familia Barolo: la familia Abbona que había fundado su propia bodega "Cavalier Felice Abbona e Figli" al pie del castillo del Marqués.
- 1929.
En esos años, de hecho, nació Pietro Abbona quien, trabajando con tenacidad y competencia en las bodegas de su padre, junto con su hermano Ernesto y sus hermanas Marina y Celestina, logró comprar en 1929 la Agencia de la Ópera Tenuta Pia Barolo, antiguas bodegas de vinificación y crianza de los marqueses de Barolo.
- En la actualidad.
Hoy, la familia Abbona continúa el trabajo iniciado hace más de dos siglos: la producción de vinos de alta calidad, destinados a enriquecer, año tras año, la historia de una gran bodega donde la actualidad y la tradición se encuentran y donde se transmite, de padres a hijos, un importante patrimonio de viñedos, bodegas y conocimiento por más de cinco generaciones. Gracias a una gran experiencia humana, ahora histórica, Anna y Ernesto Abbona, junto con sus hijos Valentina y Davide, se erigen como intérpretes fieles de la diversidad de los lugares y viñas nativas, respetando y preservando rigurosamente su tipicidad gracias a la vinificación de las uvas que llegan de sus viñedos propios y de viticultores que han sido seleccionados durante muchos años de actividad.

Los vinos.
Los vinos Roero y Roero Riserva deben pasar por un período de envejecimiento de 20 y 32 meses respectivamente, de los cuales 6 meses han de ser en barrica. El Roero se podrá comercializar a partir del 1 de julio del segundo año siguiente a la vendimia, y el Roero Riserva a partir del 1 de julio del tercer año. Los Roero Arneis son de color amarillo pajizo, con nariz delicada, fresca y algún toque de madera y la boca es elegante, armoniosa y posiblemente tánico. Los espumosos tienen una burbuja fina y persistente, color amarillo pajizo de intensidad variable, una nariz delicada, afrutada, fresca, con recuerdos a levadura, corteza de pan y vainilla, danto una boca elegante y armoniosa.
