Estrategia comercial y de desarrollo.

Cuando tenía 18 años, Mathilde lo dejó todo y se fue a estudiar administración de empresas a China, donde se especializó en estrategia internacional de negocios. Allí aprendió mandarín. Tomaba las clases en ese idioma que luego le sería tan útil para estar al cargo de la estrategia comercial y de desarrollo de negocio del grupo Chapoutier. Tradición unida a innovación.

La casa M. Chapoutier posee hoy día la propiedad vitivinícola más importante de Hermitage, con 34 hectáreas de las 115 ha de la denominación de origen. La adopción del cultivo biodinámico en todos sus cultivos, uniendo la tradición con la innovación, junto a la excepcional calidad de sus vinos, han convertido a esta casa en el marco de referencia de una de las denominaciones históricas de Francia. El cultivo biodinámico.

Pero lo esencial de la revolución emprendida por Michel, es el haber apostado por el cultivo biodinámico, iniciando con ello un cambio radical en la forma de abordar el cultivo de la vid. Su objetivo es poner en práctica una agricultura del siglo XXI, dejando que se exprese libremente el terruño, respetando sus ciclos y equilibrios naturales y considerándolo como una fuente de vida, cuyas riquezas deben preservarse. La totalidad de viñedos de la casa M. Chapoutier se cultivan hoy por Biodinámica, lo que se traduce en tres aspectos básicos:
I. El terreno. Tratado con gran respecto, sin adicción de abonos químicos, produce rendimientos muy bajos, ayudado de una poda severa, viñas viejas y una selección de masas.
II. El biotipo. Cuidado sin necesidad de uso de pesticidas, o herbicidas.
III. La identidad del vino de pago. Métodos de vinificación tradicional, levaduras indígenas y ausencia de fermentación a baja temperatura.




Iniciativas originales.

Su carácter innovador y generoso han llevado a Michel a tomar iniciativas originales también en otros campos. Las etiquetas de sus vinos se han sobreimpreso en braille. La DO.

Esta magnífica denominación del viñedo del norte de Rhône ofrece vinos tintos y blancos de alta calidad. Vinificación.

Los vinos se producen a partir de uvas bien maduras. Uvas con un alto contenido de azúcar de menos de 161 gramos por litro de mosto para vinos blancos, de 171 gramos por litro de mosto para vinos tintos. Los vinos se vinifican de acuerdo con las costumbres locales, mezclando variedades de uva, para los vinos tintos, en la proporción de al menos el 85% de la variedad de uva Syrah y para los vinos blancos se usan variedades de uva blanca, en la misma proproción que los vinos tintos. Las variedades de uva blanca aceptadas por el Consejo son el Marsanne y el Roussanne. Para los vinos tintos el Syrah. El rendimiento básico es de 45.-hl/ha.




Clima y geología.

En esta DO hay dos tipos de terruños, uno en el norte, los terrenos son formaciones de edad primaria de tipo granítico, los suelos están formados por arenas graníticas. Los viñedos se plantan en terrazas. También hay cerca del pueblo de Larnage, algunos sitios de edad terciaria de origen detrítico (arenas caolínicas, muy blancas). Y por otro lado, en el Sur, el terreno es plano con formaciones cuaternarias de origen glacial con suelos de guijarros. Al final del cuaternario, fuertes vientos depositaron arenas de piedra caliza, el loess. Barridos por la erosión, subsisten en lugares en la cima de la colina. El clima a diferencia que en otras zonas del Valle del Ródano, de un templado clima mediterráneo, el dominante en Crozes-Hermitage es de influencia continental, con inviernos húmedos y de vientos fríos, que, en ocasiones persisten hasta la primavera.

Production region

The production region of A.O.C. Crozes-Hermitage is located in El norte del Ródano, con un clima continental que difiere de su vecino del sur, que tiene un clima más mediterráneo. Los inviernos están húmedos y marcados por los fríos vientos del mistral que pueden durar hasta la primavera. La denominación es bastante grande según los estándares del norte del Rhône, con sus 1.238 hectáreas que representan aproximadamente la mitad de las 2.400 hectáreas de la región. El límite de la denominación comienza a unos 10 km al norte de Tain-l'Hermitage, se extiende alrededor del pueblo de Gervans con sus laderas de granito al sur y al sudoeste y luego se extiende hacia el sur alrededor de Larnage donde la tierra se aplana y consiste en más arcilla. Al acercarse a Tain y al pueblo de Mercurol, la tierra vuelve a elevarse y la denominación se extiende hacia el este. En esta región, el suelo es principalmente rocas, arena y arcilla.
