Los orígenes.

La bodega fué fundada en 1898 por los dos hermanos, Joan y Daniel Padró Valldosera, aunque el inicio de la actividad se considera que empezó mucho antes, ya que se han encontrado documentos antiguos que así lo testifican. La historia de Vins Padró se escribe a lo largo de cinco generaciones, en la que el trabajo y la dedicación de nuestros antepasados perdura hasta el día de hoy. Ahora es la nueva generación la que añade los nuevos conocimientos y los aplica en la elaboración del vino y cuidado de la vid. Hemos conseguido mejorar y adaptar las antiguas instalaciones, ya existentes, e incorporar las nuevas tecnologías enológicas, lo que nos permite la obtención de vinos de calidad. El proceso de envejecimiento se lleva a cabo con barricas de roble americano y francés. Envasamos nuestros vinos en la planta de nuestra bodega desde el año 1960. Los vinos de crianza se elaboran con las uvas obtenidas de las viñas más viejas. El parque de barricas alberga en él 650 de estas entre roble americano y francés.

Viñedos y bodega.

El área geográfica donde se encuentran nuestros viñedos y bodega, pertenece a la Denominación de Origen Tarragona. Entre las variedades de uva blanca encontramos macabeo, muscat, parellada y xarel.lo. A partir de estas elaboramos los vinos blancos, estas variedades aportan frescura, acidez, equilibrio y aromas frutales. Se han incorporado variedades como chardonnay para diversificar la gama y el estilo de los vinos según la demanda de los nuevos mercados. Así como el sauvignon blanc, que aporta elegancia a los vinos. En las variedades de uva tinta,la mayoritaria es la tempranillo.Se obtienen vinos de cuerpo ligero y afrutados tanto tintos como rosados. El merlot se ha ido incorporando en los nuevos vinos para enriquecerlos en finura y matices aromáticos. El resultado de su vinificación son unos vinos con mucha estructura y color,idóneos para la crianza en barricas de roble.

Origen.

El origen de la uva garnacha está localizado, según se ha comprobado ampelográficamente, en la región de Aragón, en el noreste de España. Desde allí fueron llevados a otros territorios de la Corona de Aragón, como Cerdeña o el Rosellón, en el sur de Francia. Uno de los primeros nombres que recibió fue "tinto aragonés”. En Cerdeña se conoce como cannonau, donde se afirma que se originó allí y que se extendió a otras tierras del Mediterráneo que estaban bajo el gobierno de Aragón. La garnacha ya estaba bien difundida a ambos lados del Pirineo cuando la región de Rosellón fue anexionada por Francia. A partir de ahí la vid se abrió camino a través de Languedoc y al sur de la región del Ródano, donde quedó bien asentada en el siglo XIX. A pesar de su preponderancia en las cercanas regiones de Navarra y Cataluña, la garnacha no fue plantada ampliamente en La Rioja hasta principios del siglo XX, cuando se replantaron los viñedos después de la epidemia de filoxera. Australia comenzó a plantar cepas de garnacha en el siglo XVIII, convirtiéndose en la variedad de uva de vino tinto más plantada del país hasta que fue superada por la syrah a mediados de los años sesenta. En el siglo XIX, los viticultores de California apreciaron la capacidad de la vid para producir altos rendimientos y soportar el calor y la sequía.

Características.

La variedad garnacha crece en cepas muy vigorosas de porte erguido, con elevada fertilidad y muy productivas. Los racimos son entre medianos y grandes, muy compactos y de bayas bastante uniformes, con pedúnculo corto. Las bayas son medianas de tamaño, esféricas, con epidermis de color rojo violeta oscuro, de difícil desprendimiento de su pedicelo. Su hollejo es fino, muy sensible a roces y con mucha pruina. La consistencia de su pulpa es blanda, muy jugosa, sin pigmentación. La garnacha tinta es una variedad muy sensible al mildiu tanto en hojas como en racimos, al black rot, a la excoriosis y a la yesca. Resiste muy bien al oídio, pero no al oídio tardío. Es muy sensible a distintos tipos de corrimientos ya sean fisiológicos, por frio, o inducidos por determinados patrones como Rupestris de Lot. Se ve bastante afectada por la polilla del racimo y los cicadélidos. Sensible a la necrosis bacteriana y a los virus del amarillo y bandeado de nervios, así como al desecado del raquis y por ello con altos requerimiento en magnesio. Su sensibilidad a la botritis y a la podredumbre ácida es media. No tolera bien los suelos muy húmedos o encharcados. Las cepas de garnacha son algo sensibles al corrimiento y poco a la eutipiosis y a los ácaros. Son cepas que resisten muy bien el viento y la sequía, adaptándose a cualquier tipo de suelo. Sus podas han de ser cortas, dando buenas producciones y de calidad al disponerse en espalderas, pero producciones excesivas reducen el color y minimiza su contenido en azúcar y pierde aroma. También es exigente en fósforo y boro. Poco exigente en nitrógeno.

Zonas de cultivo.

La garnacha está muy presente en todo el mundo, destacando Francia y España, aunque desde finales del siglo XX la superficie plantada ha ido decreciendo debido a que se han puesto de moda otras viñas como tempranillo, cabernet Sauvignon y merlot. En España es común en Borja y Cariñena, ambas en Aragón. Se usa en las zonas de Denominación de Origen Calificada de la Rioja y Priorato, además de en las áreas montañosas al suroeste de Madrid, al norte de la provincia de Toledo (D.O. Méntrida) y en Cebreros (Ávila). Otras regiones vitícolas con considerables plantaciones de garnacha incluyen Costers del Segre, L'Empordá-Costa Brava, La Mancha, Madrid, Penedés, Somontano, Tarragona, Terra Alta. Es una variedad recomendada en las comunidades autónomas de Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Cataluña, Extremadura, Madrid, País Vasco y Comunidad Valenciana y otras con menor presencia. Es la uva protagonista de una gran mayoría de los vinos rosados de la D.O. Navarra. Vinos.

La garnacha es una uva que se utiliza, en muchas zonas, para mejorar el color y la graduación alcohólica de vinos de otras variedades. Los Los vinos jóvenes de garnacha tienen aromas de pimienta recién molida pero manteniendo aromas de frambuesa y moras. Al envejecer, con poca crianza en barricas de roble, los vinos mantienen su color potente, adquieren aromas a fruta madura, manzana y toques minerales, sobre todo los procedentes del Priorato. Origen.

Hay teorías que remontan el origen de los ancestros de la moscatel en el antiguo Egipto y en los comienzos de la antigua Persia (c. 3000-1000 a. C.), aunque algunos ampelógrafos, como Pierre Galet, creen que la familia de la variedad moscatel fue propagada durante el periodo de la antigüedad clásica (c. 800 a.C. a 600 a. C.) por griegos y romanos. Características.

La familia moscatel es muy numerosa, con más de 200 miembros distintos,sin embargo, a pesar de esta diversidad solo un puñado de variedades de uva moscatel son ampliamente utilizadas en la producción de vino. Entre ellas está la moscatel de grano menudo, la moscatel de Alejandría, la moscatel de Hamburgo y la muscat ottonel. Las cepas de variedad moscatel son poco vigorosas y de porte erguido, desborre medio y maduración más bien tardía, dando rendimientos bajos. Su maduración es variable, existiendo muchos racimos que retrasan esta maduración, especialmente si la producción es elevada, maduran en función de la ubicación y altimetría de la parcela donde estén plantadas. Los racimos son grandes, poco compactos y heterogéneo, tanto en tamaño de baya como en el color del hollejo. Las uvas son grandes de forma circular, pero con tendencia a sección longitudinal elíptica, con una pulpa blanda, muy jugosa, con sabor característico amoscatelado. Su hollejo es grueso y consistente. Si hay algo que caracteriza esta variedad, esto es, sin duda, su elevado grado de azúcar, al tiempo que su fuerte aroma frutal. Las cepas de moscatel requieren de temperaturas elevadas tras el enverado para poder alcanzar una maduración adecuada, resisten bien a la sequía y se adaptan perfectamente a distintos tipos de suelos. Las temperaturas bajas producen que su madera no agoste bien, adaptándose bien a podas cortas en vaso. Si las podas son largas puede provocar un exceso de producción lo que daría como consecuencia una reducción en la calidad perdiendo parte de su tipicidad y aromas. Es muy sensible al oídio y al mildiu, también al frío y sensible a la polilla del racimo, a los insectos y al frío.

Zonas de cultivo.

Es una cepa típicamente mediterránea, que precisa sol y la influencia del mar por lo que se cultiva sobre todo en países que cumplan con esa característica. Existen viñedos de uva moscatel en Austria, Chipre, España, Grecia, Italia, Malta y Portugal. En España su cultivo por excelencia es en Valencia, Alicante, Canarias y Málaga.

Vinos.

Los vinos de moscatel tienen una potente aromaticidad, dando lugar a buenos caldos en suelos calizos y excelentes en silícicos. Usada como uva de mesa por su sabor amoscatelado, pulpa firme y hollejo de espesor medio. Además de utilizarse como uva de mesa produce elegantes mistelas y buenos blancos secos, dulces y espumosos, todos ellos con aromas potentes, elegantes y florales. También se adicionan en coupages para aromatizar el conjunto. En Málaga se utiliza para elaborar vinos aromáticos.
