Frente a la costa entre Marsala y Trapani, un paraje rico en salinas, Mozia es una pequeña isla a la que en un tiempo podía llegarse a pie. Era una colonia fenicia y de hecho llegó a a ser una de las ciudades más prósperas de este pueblo de comerciantes y navegantes que poblaron la cuenca mediterránea. Fueron ellos, los fenicios, quienes implantaron en la isla una de las prácticas más antiguas e interesantes de viticultura y vinificación y se beneficiaron de los suelos polvorientos y calcáreos de la isla, de su ardiente clima y de su salina mineralidad. El mérito de recuperar este patrimonio, que ya se dejó intuir en el siglo XIX con los pioneros de Marsala, recae en Tasca d'Almerita, una bodega que ha replantado en Mozia ocho hectáreas de la variedad grillo para extraer de ella uno de los blancos sicilianos más originales e innovadores. Vinificado en depósitos de acero y afinado también en acero durante 5 meses, en contacto con sus propias lías, este modernísimo Grillo di Mozia se cuenta desde hace años entre los preferidos por muchos reconocidos críticos. Es un vino joven, pero no por eso carece de una expresividad e intensidad que ya intuimos en su apariencia brillante y su color pajizo de reflejos dorados. Historia y bodegas.

Durante 200 años, Tasca d'Almerita ha unido en esta tierra pasión y experiencia, buscando constantemente maneras de hacer nuestro trabajo más agradable. Nuestro amor por estos lugares siciliana extraordinaria, nos ha llevado a trabajar para asegurarse de que son abundantes, y para expresar y exaltar esta cultura y territorio. Tasca d’Almerita es la cabeza del grupo bodeguero del mismo nombre, y cuenta con representación en cinco regiones sicilianas. Fueron los hermanos Lucio y Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca quienes, tras adquirir la antigua propiedad Regaleri, comenzaron a elaborar sus vinos a mitad del siglo XIX. Terre Siciliane es el título IGT regional para Sicilia y sus islas satélite, incluidas las Islas Aelian. Era una colonia fenicia y de hecho llegó a a ser una de las ciudades más prósperas de este pueblo de comerciantes y navegantes que poblaron la cuenca mediterránea. Fueron ellos, los fenicios, quienes implantaron en la isla una de las prácticas más antiguas e interesantes de viticultura y vinificación y se beneficiaron de los suelos polvorientos y calcáreos de la isla, de su ardiente clima y de su salina mineralidad. El mérito de recuperar este patrimonio, que ya se dejó intuir en el siglo XIX con los pioneros de Marsala, recae en Tasca d'Almerita, una bodega que ha replantado en Mozia ocho hectáreas de la variedad grillo para extraer de ella uno de los blancos sicilianos más originales e innovadores. Vinificado en depósitos de acero y afinado también en acero durante 5 meses, en contacto con sus propias lías, este modernísimo Grillo di Mozia se cuenta desde hace años entre los preferidos por muchos reconocidos críticos. Es un vino joven, pero no por eso carece de una expresividad e intensidad que ya intuimos en su apariencia brillante y su color pajizo de reflejos dorados. En nariz, sobre un fondo salobre y balsámico, se revela con aromas complejos y típicamente mediterráneos: crujiente fruta fresca, flores secas, matorral, lima y limón, retama, pimienta blanca. En boca muestra una muy buena acidez, pero sobre todo un destacado sabor que acompaña perfectamente su vigorosa estructura y se despide con una persistencia salina y almendrada. Ideal en la mesa para acompañar crustáceos y mariscos.
