Territorio y área de producción.

Historia.

Los años setenta y ochenta del siglo XX marcaron un punto de inflexión para la viticultura de Friulian: de una economía de consumo principalmente local a la concepción de un producto vitivinícola más amplio. Los jóvenes productores del área de Isonzo están entre los primeros en captar el viento del cambio y operar un nuevo salto cualitativo en su territorio, a través de elecciones de campo fundamentales. Establecido en 1966, en pleno clima de renovación de la viticultura de Isonzo, el Consorcio acoge hoy a casi 90 miembros y opera de acuerdo con estrategias precisas, garantizando un estándar básico de calidad del producto vitivinícola y portador de una filosofía que tiene como valor central y compartido la sostenibilidad. La denominación de origen controlada "Isonzo" e "Isonzo del Friuli" fue aprobada por decreto del Presidente de la República el 30 de octubre de 1974, posteriormente modificada por decreto del Presidente de la República el 25 de marzo de 1988 y por decreto ministerial el 28 de febrero de 1995 cuando se modificó en "Friuli Isonzo" o "Isonzo del Friuli".




El clima y las vides.

El área DOC Friuli Isonzo tiene un microclima mediterráneo, con una radiación solar que permite cambios sensibles de temperatura, las cuales ayudan a la lenta maduración de la vid, dando uvas sólidas y equilibradas, ricas en sabores y aromas. Las viñas adecuadas para la producción del vino en cuestión son las que se cultivan tradicionalmente en el área de Isonzo. Las formas de capacitación, los diseños de plantación y los sistemas de poda son tales que buscan la disposición mejor y racional en la superficie de las vides; las plantas están estructuradas por formas agrícolas no expandidas, con alta densidad de tocones (3500- 4000 por hectárea) y una productividad promedio entre 60 y 90 quintales por hectárea. Las prácticas relacionadas con la producción de vinos son aquellas tradicionalmente consolidadas en el área para la vinificación en blanco y tinto de vinos tranquilos.




Los vinos.

La denominación Friuli Isonzo o Isonzo del Friuli DOC se refiere a diferentes tipos de vino blanco, tinto, rosado y espumoso. Todos los vinos tienen un contenido de acidez modesto; el color de los vinos blancos es generalmente amarillo pajizo intenso y los aromas son florales y afrutados. Los vinos tintos tienen un color que tiende hacia el rubí con reflejos púrpuras en vinos jóvenes.
