La primera DO.

Fue en ese período cuando se construyó la primera Denominación de Origen del mundo. Es la historia y el genio de los hombres que nos dejan los grandes legados. El vino de Porto apareció cuando fue necesario encontrar una respuesta a los problemas de transportar vinos tintos desde Haut Douro a Porto, ya que la mayoría de los vinos no aguantaban el viaje. El secreto fué la adición de brandy durante el proceso de vinificación, tanto para los vinos blancos como para los tintos.
