Bodegas Muga: Brand.
Español [ ES ]Los comienzos.
Se fundó en 1968 por Isaac Muga. Bodegas Muga es, a pesar de juventud, una de las firmas emblemáticas del histórico barrio de la Estación de Haro. A lo largo de estos años, las nuevas generaciones de la familia se han ido incorporando al negocio familiar manteniendo la tradición y mejorando los vinos hasta el punto de que algunos de ellos -Aro, Prado Enea, Torre Muga- están considerados como uno de los mejores tintos de este país. La madera de roble es una de las grandes señas de identidad de Muga. Este es el principal material con el que está construido el hermoso caserón riojano que alberga la bodega y son las barricas de roble fabricadas de forma artesanal por sus propios toneleros- las que marcan la enorme calidad de los vinos que elaboran. Tampoco hay que olvidar sus excepcionales viñedos de tempranillo, garnacha, graciano y mazuelo, ubicados en el valle de los ríos Oja y Tirón. En estas tierras, suelo y clima se alían para ofrecer unas condiciones excepcionales a la vid, algo que aprovecha la familia Muga para elaborar sus afamados vinos.
Viñedos.
Los viñedos de Bodegas Muga: El Estepal, La Loma, Baltracones, Sajazarra, están enclavados en las faldas de los Montes Obarenes, en plena Rioja Alta, donde disfrutan de un clima peculiar. La singular geografía y orientación de las laderas, así como su ubicación en la encrucijada de los climas circundantes –mediterráneo, atlántico y continental–, se conjugan armónicamente para crear un espacio climático idóneo para la uva. Los suelos de esta zona son mayoritariamente arcillo/ calcáreos, pero se subdividen en pequeñas entidades con variedades en sus propiedades físicas y químicas, que proporcionan a cada predio una personalidad propia muy definida. Este maremagno de influencias climáticas y suelos define un ciclo vegetativo largo en el que la uva y todos sus componentes cumplen una maduración delicada, prolongada y compleja. Sin duda, esto explica la elevada apreciación de esta zona vinícola. Aquí Bodegas Muga posee 200 hectáreas de viñedos propios, pero controla hasta 150 más procedentes de otros agricultores. En estos terrenos se cultivan variedades como Tempranillo (que constituye la esencia de los vinos tintos), Garnacha, Mazuelo y Graciano, y Viura y Malvasia para los blancos.
La bodega.
Bodegas Muga, que posee 200 hectáreas de viñedos propios pero que llega a controlar hasta más de 150 ha. procedentes de agricultores fijos. En sus cerca de 25.000 metros cuadrados todo gira alrededor del roble. Bodegas Muga dispone de cuatro salas de fermentación con 90 tinas de madera cuyas capacidades varían desde los 3.000 hasta los 15.000 kilos de capacidad. Gracias a este amplio abanico de posibilidades se pueden vinificar individualmente las uvas en función de su calidad y viñedo de procedencia. Bodegas Muga es una de las pocas bodegas españolas que dispone de su propia tonelería. Tres toneleros y un cubero se encargan de trabajar la madera de roble.
