Apasionado, curioso, enamorado de cosas bellas y buenas, Alexandre Gabriel es un perfeccionista comprometido, en busca de los métodos de producción más avanzados. "Un gran coñac, un gran ron, es sobre todo compartir una emoción fuerte debido a una ejecución perfecta. Somos, en cierto modo, los artesanos de Ron, los orfebres de Cognac ". Fue en 1989 que Alexandre Gabriel descubrió Maison Ferrand, una de las más antiguas de la región. Si el know-how de Ferrand es indiscutible, las ventas son más que confidenciales. Sin embargo, es un amor instantáneo a primera vista para Alexandre Gabriel, que luego es fervientemente iniciado a los detalles de Cognac. Las plantaciones.
Como administrador de Maison, Alexandre Gabriel pensó en revender algunos de sus barriles de coñac usados a otros productores, en particular a los productores de ron. Por ello fue al Caribe y América Latina y se encontró con docenas de expresiones únicas y fascinantes, sorprendiéndose de que en cada isla hubiera un ron local. “Soy un amante de los productos que expresan auténticamente su historia y la tierra que los forjó. Me fascinaba esta diversidad, esta exuberancia". Sabía que en el fondo, lo que podía hacer era un buen trabajo de envejecimiento y con la madera, ya que lo conocía muy bien. Fue entonces cuando se me ocurrió la idea de Plantation. En el Caribe una "plantación" es simplemente una granja. Crecí en una granja, también vivo allí ahora, y es sobre todo el aspecto agrícola de nuestros espíritus lo que más me fascina. Por lo tanto, el nombre Plantation parecía obvio para nuestra marca, que quería reflejar los grandes terruños y culturas del ron. Desde entonces, Alexandre Gabriel pasa tres o cuatro meses al año en el Caribe en busca de los mejores barriles. A menudo compartiendo la misma pasión, ha forjado una lealtad y amistad muy grande con las destilerías locales. Plantation es una gama única y excepcional, basada en una selección de lotes raros y conocimientos muy específicos en envejecimiento. Plantation también es propietario de la legendaria destilería de ron West Indies en Barbados y es accionista de National Rum of Jamaica, propietario de Clarendon Distillery y Long Pond Distillery.
